Objective

The goal of this project was to establish a distinct and cohesive brand identity that reflects the dark, immersive themes of Something Wicked Games. This involved designing a logo and visual language that aligns with their focus on occult historical fantasy, while also ensuring a modern, user-friendly website. The branding needed to attract both RPG fans and industry talent, creating a compelling online presence. Ultimately, the design had to seamlessly integrate the studio’s narrative-driven approach with a sleek digital experience.

Brand inspiration
The logo for Something Wicked Games was inspired by the mythology of the Orphic Egg, symbolizing cosmic creation, and a quote from Macbeth, reflecting themes of fate and mystery that align with their dark, narrative-driven, occult themes.

Website Goals.

The website needed to create an immersive experience that reflects the dark, fantasy themes of Something Wicked Games. Key goals included showcasing the brand's unique identity, attracting fans, developers, and investors, and providing a platform for updates and community engagement. It should be visually striking, easy to navigate, and optimized for high traffic. Additionally, the site should function as a recruitment tool to attract top talent, ensuring scalability as the studio grows. Integrating elements like parallax scrolling and interactive visuals will enhance user engagement and deepen their connection to the game's world.

Development Updates.

The website's blog effectively promotes company news and development updates, engaging readers with timely insights, behind-the-scenes looks, and progress reports, enhancing transparency and fostering a strong community connection.

Custom Illustrations.

Chris Cold created custom illustrations for Something Wicked Games, including those for the upcoming game Wyrdsong, which defined the studio's visual identity with dark, thematic art that enhances their brand and storytelling.

Core Team.

Something Wicked Games created a cooperative environment with a great mix of veterans and visionaries. Driven by radical creativity, smart iteration, empowered decisions, and proactive scheduling, their dynamic studio aims to attract the best talent the industry has to offer.

Results
The new visual identity successfully showcases Something Wicked Games' dark, fantasy themes with immersive design and interactive features. It attracted fans, investors, and served as an optimal recruitment tool.
